The Bath Essence

Her
Story

I had been working with flower essences for a while now and had found them more frequently appearing to me in dreams by way of direction for cultivating, creating and journeying with the ones I needed at the time. One night during Ostara 2025 I had a dream that I was in a beautiful garden in the daytime. There were people around me gardening and on the wall in front of me were beautiful deep reddish pink blossoms. This tree was unfamiliar to me and I looked it up. On a tablet in front of me it said the words ‘Hawthorn.’

After waking from this dream, I remember thinking it was strange but beautiful to dream of a red blossom Hawthorn tree, as I knew them only to be white. I did some research and found, in fact, that they do exist with red blossoms and these are known as the Midland Hawthorn.

In that morning, I felt a strong calling to connect to the Roman Baths. I’ve been a resident of Bath for over 15 years but never felt a calling to visit the baths like this before. I began researching the spiritual significance of the springs and remembered reading how Dr Bach made Rock Water essence from the essence of the spring water from rocks having emerged from the earth, and flowing in natural sunlight, and felt a strong calling to make a Bath Spring Essence, combining it with the timing of my dream of Red Hawthorn. On doing some more research, I was amazed to discover that Hawthorn trees were planted by the Celts at the sites of ancient springs to protect them. I knew this essence combination had to be created.

I had to wait a few months until the Red Hawthorn tree flowered. I even emailed the UK forestry to see where the nearest one would be to me, but they couldn’t tell me. Come May though, I was delighted to find one on the country field where I took my daily walk, and never even knew!

Beltane happen to be the perfect time to create her. I collected water from the Bath Springs and went to the Cross Baths, the sacred site believed by the Celts to be a source of healing, where they bathed in the mineral rich waters and gave offerings to their goddess Sul (renamed by Romans as Sulis Minerva) and I asked for her blessing. The same day, I added the Hawthorn flowers I collected on the way back and used the sun method to create the Bath Essence.

On Sunday, I proceeded with my weekly ritual and poured myself a hot bath. I sprinkled in some flowers from the garden and used 7 drops (as directed by for bathing with flower essences.) That night I had a beautiful dream of the Goddess Sulis, who gave me a beautiful message about my work.

I’m so excited to share this beautiful essence with you. I feel it encapsulates the healing energies of the spring’s waters combined with the balancing and protecting qualities of red Hawthorn, which in Celtic mythology, is one of the most sacred trees and symbolizes love and protection.

Connect with the essence of Sulis sacred waters to aid in spiritual healing and to help bring balance. The added essence of the Hawthorn will help aid in heart healing and spiritual protection.
